What do you do when you are staring at that insurmountable mountain and it fills you with anxiety and dread. No mater how much you pray about it you can’t find release. Even when you are not thinking about it you are in it’s clutches and it brings you down and robs you.
Psalm 121 says, “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
Do you have a mountain? A problem that won’t go away? Your freedom is to trust the LORD, maker of heaven and earth. Why? the psalmist goes on to say, v3 “He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber”
That mountain brings us to the foot of the cross. Where we ware-out the knee and pour out the heart. At the cross we are reminded that He is bigger than our troubles and we can leave them there dwindling under the shadow of the cross.
v5 – 8
The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day, Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and coming in from this time forth and forever.
NASB
The words of the hymn, ‘only trust Him, only trust Him, only trust Him now’, run through my brain. This is where the power is. Trusting Him for His word and leaving the mountains to Him. When we rise from prayer we are no longer ill from from the weight but free to find the high places, joyful, grateful, free. Thank you God!.
